A pre-purchase decision guide for personal China orders entering Argentina by courier Pequeños Envíos or Correo Argentino Puerta a Puerta, including weight, value, annual-use and recipient requirements.
For a personal purchase from China, choose the Argentine entry route before the seller or warehouse dispatches the parcel. A courier shipment under Pequeños Envíos and a parcel entering through Correo Argentino Puerta a Puerta are not interchangeable after arrival. They have different package-weight limits and operating procedures, even though several customs thresholds are similar.
This guide is for non-commercial purchases. If the quantity, recipient, product or intended use suggests resale or business inventory, stop and obtain advice for the appropriate commercial regime instead of trying to divide the order into personal parcels.
Rules checked on 27 September 2026 against ARCA’s current Envíos Internacionales pages and General Resolution 5883/2026. Carrier procedures and implementation details can change, so confirm the actual goods and service before dispatch.
Start with the recipient and purpose
Ask who will be the named recipient in Argentina and what the goods are for. Under the personal-use routes discussed here, the shipment must not have a commercial purpose. Repeated units, resale packaging, business quantities or a pattern of similar shipments may lead Customs to apply a different treatment even when the declared value is below a numerical ceiling.
Record the recipient’s correct name, CUIT or CUIL where required, contact details and delivery address. The recipient should also be able to access the applicable ARCA or postal process. A forwarding company can prepare transport information, but it cannot lend the recipient an identity, use somebody else’s annual allowance or confirm receipt on the recipient’s behalf without an authorized process.
Compare the two routes before packing
ARCA currently describes courier Pequeños Envíos as shipments for human or legal persons, with no commercial purpose, up to three units of the same kind, no more than 50 kg per package and a maximum FOB value of USD 3,000 per shipment. The regime may be used five times per calendar year and per person.
Puerta a Puerta through Correo Argentino is for human persons aged 16 or older and for personal use. It also allows up to three units of the same kind and a maximum FOB value of USD 3,000, but the package limit is 20 kg rather than the courier limit of 50 kg.
These are legal ceilings, not recommended shopping targets. A parcel close to a limit has little room for a seller’s packaging, warehouse repacking or a valuation correction. Confirm the final packed weight and the declared goods before approving dispatch.
Do not confuse the USD 3,000 ceiling with the USD 400 allowance
The USD 3,000 figure is the maximum FOB value for these routes. It is not an automatic tax-free amount.
For the first five qualifying shipments in a calendar year, ARCA states that a shipment of up to USD 400 FOB is exempt from import duty and the statistical tax. VAT and internal taxes may still apply. If the FOB value exceeds USD 400, the relieved duties apply to the excess according to the current rules. If the recipient has already used the annual allowance, the favorable treatment no longer applies in the same way.
Correo Argentino also charges its service and storage fee where applicable. A warehouse or forwarding quotation from China normally does not include every Argentine tax, postal charge or destination intervention unless the quote expressly says so.
Product eligibility comes before route price
Do not select courier or postal service only because one initial freight quote is lower. Batteries, liquids, powders, food, cosmetics, medicines, radio equipment, branded goods and other controlled products may need route-specific review. A numerical small-shipment limit does not make prohibited goods admissible.
Send the provider the product link, material or ingredients, battery details, quantity and intended use before purchase. Consolidate only after checking the customs picture
Combining several China orders may reduce repeated outer packaging, but consolidation also changes the parcel’s total value, unit count, description and weight. Three units of the same kind is a customs condition, not a target to work around by changing boxes.

Approve dispatch with one route-specific file
Before the parcel leaves China, keep one file containing:
- the recipient’s exact details;
- product names, quantities and purchase values;
- seller invoices or order screenshots;
- final packed weight and dimensions;
- battery, liquid, powder, food or cosmetic information;
- the chosen courier or postal route;
- confirmation of which Argentine charges are included or excluded; and
- the recipient’s remaining annual-use position, where applicable.
