A real purchasing case shows how to confirm the exact monitor model, PC connection requirements, stock, packaging and separate shipping costs before paying. Includes the completed cancellation and refund outcome.
Before paying for a gaming monitor from China, confirm the full model number, how you will connect it to your computer, when the seller can dispatch it, and which costs are included. Finding a purchase link is a useful start, but it does not answer all four questions.
We recently helped a buyer in Norway look for an HKC 25Q360B. The search first turned up a similar model, then a presale listing, before another purchase link was agreed and the order was placed. The buyer later told us the product would not meet the needs of their gaming PC and requested cancellation. We handled the cancellation and refund, and the buyer has confirmed that the refund arrived.
The useful lesson is to make the purchasing instructions specific enough for everyone to check the same thing.
One different letter needs another check
The requested model was 25Q360B; an early listing showed 25Q360A. A similar name, photograph or headline refresh rate is not enough to authorize a substitution.
Before payment, compare the full model number with the selected variant and the manufacturer's information or the seller's written confirmation. Send the buying agent the link and a screenshot of the selected option. Write “Buy this exact model and variant; please confirm with me before substituting.”
If the exact version cannot be found, another model may be worth considering. Get the buyer's agreement before ordering it.
Ask about your setup, not just whether it connects
Tell the seller your computer or graphics-card model, the connection you plan to use, and the resolution and refresh rate you want. Include any adapter or docking station in that description.
You can send this message:
I use [computer or graphics-card model] and plan to connect through [port, adapter or dock]. I want to use [resolution and refresh rate]. Can this exact monitor model support that setup? Which cable or other conditions are required?
Check the answer against the manufacturer's documentation. For USB-C connections, VESA's DisplayPort FAQ explains that video uses DisplayPort Alt Mode; a USB-C connector alone is not enough information to approve the purchase. Ask whether the particular computer port, cable and display support the required video connection.
In our case, we know what the buyer reported, but we do not have enough information to diagnose the compatibility issue. This article does not identify a product defect or verify the monitor's advertised specifications.
A listing is not a stock confirmation
The Pinduoduo page located during the search was marked as a presale. Because the buyer wanted earlier dispatch, we continued checking other options and agreed a JD.com purchase link.
Ask whether the selected variant is in stock, its expected handover date to the domestic courier, and what happens if that date is missed. A search-result price may also have conditions, so check the actual payable amount after selecting the correct item.
Seller dispatch, warehouse arrival, international transport and final delivery are separate stages. “Ships soon” does not establish when you will receive it overseas.
Separate the product budget from the shipping budget
The case discussion used a product budget of about RMB 2,000 plus a RMB 100 service fee. International shipping was not included. Those were the figures discussed for this purchase, not a standard price or fee for every monitor order.
Before paying, ask which of these are included and which remain to be quoted: product cost, purchasing service, domestic delivery, extra protective packaging, international shipping, and any destination import charges. A final shipping quote needs the actual packed weight, carton dimensions and an available route. Screen size alone is not enough. If the package data is still missing, ask what an estimate assumes and what must be measured before a final quote can be given.
For this particular Norway order, air shipping was the option offered at the time. That does not establish permanent route availability for all future shipments.
Say what packaging and checks you want
The buyer wanted to keep the original packaging. For a monitor, do not give a blanket instruction to remove all boxes just to reduce volume.
Specify whether the original carton, internal cushioning, stand, cables and manuals should stay together. Additional protection should be discussed after the package condition is known.
Request the agreed warehouse photos of the carton, model label and visible condition. If you want a power-on check, ask beforehand whether it is available, what it covers and whether opening the package is required. Receiving photos are not professional display testing and do not establish compatibility with your PC.
If your requirements change, check the order status first
Contact the purchasing assistant promptly and ask whether the item has been bought, dispatched by the seller, received at the warehouse or released for international shipping. The answer affects the available cancellation or return process and any costs.
Keep the cancellation decision, refund amount and refund receipt as separate confirmations. In this case, the cancellation was handled and the buyer confirmed receipt of the refund. Send one clear brief before payment
- Full model, purchase link and screenshot of the selected variant.
- Computer or graphics-card model, connection method and target display mode.
- Whether you accept presale and your acceptable dispatch date.
- Original packaging requirements and any requested checks.
- Destination country and postcode.
- Costs still to be quoted and the cancellation conditions to confirm.
