- Purchasing assistance: You need help confirming specifications, ordering, communicating and receiving.
Do not buy a full purchasing service if receiving and forwarding are all you need. Equally, do not treat successful payment as confirmation that a product can be shipped internationally.
When World Pay is worth checking

This route is worth investigating if you expect repeat purchases and are comfortable managing your own 1688 orders. First check:
- Whether your country and account type qualify.
- Which payment option appears for the intended order.
- What verification or account linking that option requires.
- The amount you must fund, including conversion and payment charges.
- How unused funds and order refunds are handled.
Complete identity checks through official channels. Never buy a borrowed account or share a password or verification code with someone offering to “activate” payment.
When a card is the simpler option
Supported card payment may be available at checkout, but acceptance is not universal. A card saved in Alipay is not proof that the same card can fund a particular 1688 order.
If checkout offers a card route, compare the displayed charge with your issuer's currency-conversion and foreign-transaction terms. Check which currency will actually be charged, not just the currency used to display the product price.
For an occasional purchase, an available card option may avoid opening another payment account. It still leaves you responsible for selecting the correct specifications, monitoring the seller and handling delivery arrangements.

An agent can be useful when payment is only one of several obstacles. You may need Chinese communication, help choosing a product variant, receipt at a warehouse or requested inspection photographs.
Before paying, ask who places the supplier order and whose account receives any refund. If the agent is the purchaser, your payment to the agent and the agent's purchase from the supplier are separate transactions. Understand how those records connect.
Request a written breakdown covering:
- The exact products, quantities and specifications.
- Product cost and Chinese domestic delivery.
- Purchasing service and payment-related charges.
- Included receiving checks and any additional inspection work.
- International shipping estimates and what could change them.
Do not assume an agent is always cheaper or that every agent accepts the same payment methods. Use the methods actually offered for your quote. Photographs can document visible condition; they do not guarantee authenticity, performance or regulatory compliance.
Compare the same basket, not headline fees
A low payment fee can be offset by conversion costs or services excluded from the quote. Compare routes using the same supplier, product variant, quantity and Chinese delivery address.
Keep two totals separate:
Amount needed to purchase: goods, domestic shipping, payment and conversion charges, plus any purchasing service fee.
Amount needed to receive overseas: the purchase total plus applicable warehouse work, international transport and destination charges.
Do not add a currency-conversion charge twice if it is already included in the quoted rate. Ask which charges are final and which are estimates. International freight may depend on packed dimensions and weight that are not known at checkout.
There is no universal spending threshold at which an agent or World Pay becomes the best option. Frequency, account eligibility and how much work you can handle matter alongside price.
Decide who handles a problem
Payment convenience should not hide unclear responsibility. Before buying, establish who will contact the seller if the wrong size arrives, whether a return can be arranged from China and who pays return delivery.
Also ask where a refund goes and whether conversion or service charges are refundable. Do not assume a bank transfer, card or agent arrangement gives identical dispute rights; check the terms of the actual transaction.

Prepare the order before sending money
Keep a short purchase brief ready:
- Product links, selected variants and quantities.
- Agreed specifications and any sample requirement.
- Your Chinese receiving address and customer reference.
- Destination country and a description of the goods.
- A cost breakdown and payment confirmation.
- Written instructions for checks, returns and shipping approval.
