How to Buy from Taobao in Spain: Ordering, Warehouse and Customs

A practical guide for Spain-based buyers who want to order from Taobao, use a China warehouse, check seller parcels, consolidate packaging and prepare accurate VAT and customs information.

Can Taobao purchases be delivered to Spain?

Yes, but the workable route depends on the seller, your account and the delivery options shown for the order. When direct international delivery is not available or does not suit the parcel, the buyer can use a China warehouse address and arrange international forwarding after the domestic parcels arrive.

You can place the Taobao order yourself if your account and payment method work, or use a shopping agent when you need help with Chinese communication, payment or product variations. The main task is not simply placing the order; it is keeping the correct address and customer code, resolving seller problems before export and preparing an accurate shipment to Spain.

Choose between self-ordering and purchasing assistance

Self-ordering gives you direct control and avoids a purchasing-agent fee. It is appropriate when you understand the listing, can complete payment and are prepared to handle a seller dispute. Check size charts, model numbers, materials, quantities and whether a low displayed price refers to an accessory rather than the main item.

A shopping agent can help confirm a difficult option, communicate with the seller and execute the purchase. The agent fee is for that assistance. It does not automatically include product cost, domestic delivery, international freight, returns, authenticity testing or import charges.

See the China shopping agent guide before choosing between purchasing support and forwarding only.

Enter the China warehouse address correctly

Copy every address line and your personal customer code exactly. The code allows the warehouse to match an incoming Taobao parcel with your account. Keep the Taobao order number and domestic tracking number, and submit a pre-alert when required.

Orders from different shops arrive separately. Wait until the intended parcels are recorded before requesting one international shipment. If a parcel cannot be identified, the order and tracking records are needed to investigate it.

Check goods before international shipping

When receiving photos are available, review the visible product, colour, quantity and obvious exterior damage. A photo check is not a functional test or authenticity certificate. If the item is wrong, contact the seller while the parcel is still in China; a domestic return is normally more practical than returning it after export.

Save screenshots of the listing and selected variation. For clothing and shoes, compare the seller's measurements rather than relying only on a familiar size label.

Consolidate without removing necessary protection

Several Taobao parcels can be combined into one outbound shipment. With permission, unnecessary seller cartons and duplicated packing may be removed. This can reduce empty space, especially for flexible clothing, while fragile goods may require extra protection.

Shoeboxes, retail packaging and collectable boxes should only be removed when the buyer agrees. The lowest volume is not always the safest packing choice. Read how package consolidation affects chargeable weight.

Understand the final shipping cost

An estimate made before repacking may use the seller's original carton. The final charge is calculated after consolidation, packing and measurement according to the selected service. Actual weight and volumetric weight may both matter.

Removing unnecessary packaging can lower the chargeable volume; adding protection can increase it. Review the final dimensions, weight and service conditions before authorising dispatch. The shipping-cost guide explains the main components.

VAT and customs when importing into Spain

Rules checked on 25 September 2026. Online purchases sent from China enter the EU customs system and require an import declaration. Import VAT applies; the correct rate depends on the product.

For eligible distance sales not exceeding EUR 150 in intrinsic value, IOSS can allow VAT to be collected at checkout. Without IOSS, the postal operator or courier may collect VAT and handling charges at import.

From 1 July 2026, the EU applies a temporary fixed customs duty of EUR 3 per goods item for qualifying distance-sale consignments not exceeding EUR 150. A goods item groups products with the same commodity code and origin, so this is not necessarily one charge per parcel. Above EUR 150, normal tariff treatment depends on classification and origin. Clearance or administration charges may also apply.

Mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands use the EU VAT framework. The Canary Islands use IGIC; Ceuta and Melilla have separate arrangements. Confirm the final territory before selecting a service.

Use accurate product descriptions, quantities and values. Official references: Spanish Tax Agency guidance, EU IOSS information and EU EUR 3 customs-duty guidance.
