China Shopping Proxy: Buying Help, Fees and Forwarding

Decide whether you need purchasing help or forwarding, understand the separate purchase and shipping budgets, and know what to approve before dispatch.

A China shopping proxy buys goods on your behalf when you need help paying a Chinese seller, confirming an order or communicating in Chinese. If you can already buy and pay yourself, warehouse forwarding may be all you need. Choose the service according to the task you cannot complete, not simply because your purchase starts in China.

This guide is for overseas shoppers and small businesses with products already selected. It explains what to agree before purchase, what warehouse checks can tell you, and when to approve international dispatch. Here, “proxy” means purchasing assistance, not an internet proxy or VPN.

Buying help or forwarding: which gap are you trying to close?

Use purchasing assistance when you need someone to confirm a variation, communicate with a seller or place the order. Give the agent the product link and written instructions rather than relying on a photo of a similar item.

Use forwarding when you can manage the purchase but need a delivery address in China. You remain responsible for ordering correctly and managing seller issues unless additional help is agreed. The China warehouse receiving guide explains the receiving stage.

If the seller offers suitable direct delivery with clear charges, compare that option too. Buying assistance and international transportation are separate services; you do not automatically need both.

Before the agent orders, make the instructions usable

Send the exact link, size or model, color, quantity, destination country and postal code. Add anything that would make a substitution unacceptable. “Ask me if this size is unavailable” is more useful than “choose something similar.”

Request written confirmation of:

  • The selected item and current purchase price.
  • Domestic delivery and the purchasing or payment fee.
  • What happens if the seller is out of stock.
  • Which checks you want before export and what they cost.
  • Whether the exact goods have an available shipping route.
  • How cancellations, returns and refunds will be handled.

Buying from a Chinese platform does not mean every item can travel on the same route. Send the actual listing for review rather than assuming a category such as “accessories” is enough.

Separate the purchase budget from the shipping decision

The purchase-stage quote should identify the goods, domestic delivery, service charges and any payment or currency-conversion costs. Ask how a refund would be calculated, including any fees that would not be returned.

The dispatch-stage quote should identify packing, warehouse services, international transport and any destination charges included or excluded. Keep confirmed amounts separate from estimates. The shopping-agent cost breakdown provides a fuller checklist.

International freight may depend on packed weight, dimensions, product type and destination. Ask for the route's charging method rather than assuming every service uses the same dimensional-weight formula. A preliminary estimate is useful for deciding whether to buy; the final packing information is needed to approve dispatch.

For a US destination, the Taobao consolidation cost guide covers the additional questions to ask about a shipment quote. It does not replace a quote for your own order.

Use the warehouse checkpoint before problems travel overseas

Match received parcels to your order list. Request the checks that matter: a size label, the number of pieces or a close-up of visible damage. Photos and basic checks do not establish authenticity, material composition, electrical safety or long-term performance. Ask separately if specialist inspection is needed.

If something is wrong, contact the service promptly about the seller's return deadline and the available remedy. Storage time does not extend the seller's return window. YDA Express offers up to 180 days of free storage for eligible goods under its applicable policy; confirm eligibility, when the period starts and any exceptions before relying on it.

Illustrative situation, not a customer case: two clothing orders have arrived, but a fragile item is still pending. You could wait, send the clothing first, or request separate protective packing. Compare the extra handling, shipment charges and protection needed. Consolidation is a packing decision, not a promise that everything should fit into one box or that shipping will always be cheaper.

Approve dispatch with one clear record

Before authorising shipment, confirm the parcel list, finished packing, delivery address, quote exclusions and who handles clearance and applicable import charges. Ask when any delivery estimate starts and which stages it covers. Keep invoices and use accurate product descriptions and values; this guide does not establish a tax rate or exemption for your destination.

Your next step is simple: send the product links, quantities and destination to YDA Express and state whether you need purchasing help or forwarding only. Ask for the purchase-stage charges and shipping feasibility before paying the seller or approving an agent order.
