Taobao to The Bahamas: Click2Clear Registration and C44

Before your first China parcel leaves the warehouse, confirm the Bahamas importer, the licensed declarant and the clearance handoff. Learn how personal Click2Clear registration differs from a filing account, what C44 authorizes, and which details to settle before dispatch.

Policy information checked: 7 November 2026.

For your first Taobao or Pinduoduo parcel to The Bahamas, confirm who will handle destination clearance before asking the China warehouse to dispatch it. A personal buyer may need to be registered in Click2Clear, but that does not mean you need a personal login to file the declaration. C44 is a separate authorization allowing an agent to declare value on your behalf.

The useful result is a short record of who is importing, who is declaring, how the goods will arrive, and who handles payment and release. A China warehouse ID answers a different question: whose parcel has reached the warehouse.

Start with the arrival method, not the registration form

Bahamas Customs describes Click2Clear as its system for cargo imports and exports, including online purchases shipped by air or sea. Returning from a trip with shopping in your baggage is a different route.

Your situation What to confirm first
You buy personal items online and have them sent separately Ask the destination courier or broker which cargo procedure applies and whether your importer registration can be found.
You travel with the goods yourself Follow the accompanied-baggage procedure. Do not use that procedure to describe a parcel travelling separately.
You are buying stock for a shop or another business Tell the declarant the actual business purpose before shipment. Personal registration alone does not settle business import requirements.

A personal-use purchase does not become passenger baggage because its owner has recently travelled. The Customs FAQ expressly excludes cargo from accompanied-baggage exemptions. Do not deduct a traveller's allowance from an online parcel budget. If an agent proposes a concession or simplified procedure, ask for its current legal basis, eligible goods and value limit rather than assuming small parcels are exempt.

Postal parcels also need their own handling instructions. Under section 344 of the Customs Management Act, Customs may accept the origin postal declaration instead of a separate entry. That is not a reason to tell every postal recipient to obtain a broker's filing account. Ask the actual operator how assessment, payment and collection will work.

Keep the warehouse ID and your Bahamas identity separate

When placing your own China order, take the receiving address and warehouse ID from the YDA Express App. Include the warehouse ID in the shopping platform's delivery details so the warehouse can connect the arriving parcel to your account. Check the exact size, colour, quantity and selected product variant before paying, especially where a low displayed price refers to one option in a larger listing.

That warehouse ID is not your NIB number, a Click2Clear registration, or a Bahamas customs reference. The China receiving address is not your destination importer's identity either. The China forwarding guide explains the warehouse side; destination clearance requires its own arrangements.

For individual registration, the official Click2Clear registration page asks resident individuals for a photograph of a valid NIB Smart Card. Non-resident individuals use the passport photo page or a driver's licence. Use the category that actually applies to you. Do not substitute somebody else's NIB because your own registration has a problem.

The same form contains business fields. Their presence does not mean every household buyer must obtain a company's TIN or Business Licence. If you are importing for resale, however, stop using the personal-shopping assumption: Customs lists business imports as restricted unless the importer produces a current Business Licence.

“Registered” does not mean “ready to file it yourself”

The Customs guidance for individuals makes the distinction clear: registration is a one-time process, and individuals do not require login accounts because licensed customs brokers handle declaration processing.

Before dispatch, ask the destination agent: “Can you find my importer registration, and does the registered name match the name you will use on this shipment?” The official FAQ advises entering your name exactly as it appears on your NIB card. If the agent cannot find the record, resolve it with the agent or the Customs registration help desk linked on the individual guidance page. Opening repeated registrations or changing the consignee to someone else can leave the underlying mismatch unresolved.

You should also know which organisation is actually handling clearance. A carrier may arrange a licensed broker; the company collecting freight is not necessarily the person submitting the entry. Ask for the responsible contact and the reference to use if Customs needs more information.

Read C44 as an authority to act for you

Regulation 97 of the Customs Management Regulations distinguishes the declaration of value, C43, from C44, which authorizes an agent to make that declaration on the owner's behalf.

Before signing, check the importer name and the person or company being authorized. Ask the designated broker or courier for its current C44 and identification requirements and send the completed documents through the secure channel it specifies. A warehouse membership number cannot replace proof of the importer's identity.

Signing C44 does not complete clearance or establish an exemption. You still need to provide accurate purchase information and answer questions about the goods. Keep the signed copy and the agent's acknowledgement so you know whom you authorized.

Leave regulated additions out of an unconfirmed parcel

This guide covers the clearance roles for personal shopping; it does not approve every item in a Taobao or Pinduoduo basket. Before paying, send the exact product link, intended use and relevant material or model details to the destination declarant. Ask YDA separately whether the available transport option accepts the item.

For example, adding plant material or food to a clothing order can introduce a different approval question. The Department of Agriculture notice directs import-permit services for plants, flowers, fruit, vegetables, meat, poultry, eggs and dairy to Click2Clear. Do not take a courier's willingness to carry something as proof that the required import approval exists. Batteries, liquids, medicines, cosmetics and wireless devices also deserve a specific check before they are added; this article does not establish their permits or carrier acceptance.

When goods arrive in China, compare the available check photos and receiving records with your order while a domestic return can still be arranged under the seller's applicable conditions. Basic visible checks do not prove authenticity, electrical safety or compliance.

Take this clearance handoff record to your agent

Before you initiate forwarding in the App, complete the following with the destination agent and YDA. Leave identity-document numbers out of any publicly shared copy.

  • Importer and use: whose name is on the import, resident or non-resident, and personal use or business.
  • Arrival route: postal, courier, or sea/air cargo; the agent has confirmed the applicable declaration procedure.
  • Registration: where the confirmed arrival procedure requires it, the destination agent can find the correct importer record. The China warehouse ID is recorded separately.
  • Authority: the responsible licensed declarant is named, and any required C44 and identification have been received.
  • Goods: selected variants and actual contents are confirmed; any item requiring approval is cleared for shipment or held back.
  • Purchase evidence: the declarant has told you which supplier documents and freight documents it needs. A warehouse photo is not a seller's invoice.
  • Charges: who provides the Customs assessment, which charges the transport quote includes, and who pays the balance.
  • Release and handover: the named destination contact, collection or delivery arrangement, and what happens if more information is requested.

For the charges line, distinguish import duty from VAT and service fees. The Department of Inland Revenue gives a standard VAT rate of 10%, with exceptions. The Customs calculation guidance includes relevant freight, duty and other landed charges in the VAT base. “Duty free” and “all costs paid” are therefore different claims. Ask the declarant for the treatment of your goods; do not calculate VAT only on the marketplace price or treat an estimate as the final assessment.

Use the YDA Express services page to discuss China receiving, available check photos, packing preferences and a currently available transport option. Confirm whether the quote includes any Bahamas-side handling and who performs it. This guide does not confirm a particular route, a US transit service, or YDA acting as your Bahamas customs broker.

If any handoff line is blank, resolve it before requesting dispatch. Tax treatment, concessions, permits, prohibited-goods lists, platform conditions and carrier acceptance can change after this check date. Check the product before purchase, compare the goods and packaging after warehouse arrival, and reconfirm the rules and actual route before international shipment. Ask the responsible importer or licensed declarant to resolve any remaining uncertainty while the goods can still be held in China.
