China to Japan Parcel Tracking: What to Do After Arrival
A tracking pause after arrival in Japan does not automatically mean a parcel is lost. First identify the carrier that currently has custody and the tracking number it recognises.
Use the active carrier's tracking number
- Check the YDA shipment record for the latest route event.
- If a local carrier or replacement number appears, use that carrier's official tracking page.
- For accepted Japan Post numbers, use Japan Post Track & Trace.
A shop order number, warehouse number and final-mile number can describe different stages. Do not treat them as interchangeable.
What each common status means
Arrived in Japan, with no delivery scan
The parcel may still be in handover, customs or destination sorting. Check the date of the latest event and look for a local-carrier number. Do not submit a duplicate request for the same parcel.
Customs, duty or document notice
Follow the carrier or customs notice exactly. Keep the order confirmation, item description, quantity, payment proof and tracking number ready. Postal and courier imports can follow different procedures; see the Japan Customs personal-import FAQ.
Missed delivery or delivery attempt
Confirm the recipient phone, building name, room number and delivery notice. For Japan Post items, use the official notice or service to request redelivery or collection where available.
Delivered, but not found
Check reception, parcel lockers, household members and the exact submitted address. Then contact the final carrier with the number it recognises.
Send YDA a complete tracking request
Provide the YDA shipment number, all tracking numbers, destination postcode, current status, date of the latest event, and whether the issue is no update, customs, missed delivery or delivery dispute. Do not post full address details in public comments.
Before treating a parcel as lost
Compare all tracking numbers and confirm the newest event is not just a handover to another carrier. If a local carrier has accepted the parcel, its official page is normally the source for last-mile instructions. Tracking does not replace a correct address or a response to a customs request.
