A Taobao agent buys selected products on your behalf and may also arrange seller communication, warehouse receiving and international forwarding. You do not automatically need purchasing assistance: if you can order and pay yourself, forwarding alone may meet your needs.
Choose the service according to the obstacle you face, then confirm the product and destination are accepted before paying.
What the service includes
An agent may help with product ordering, supplier payment, communication, receiving, agreed photo checks, storage, consolidation, shipping and after-sales coordination. These are separate tasks, so ask which are included in your quote.

A basic photo check does not establish authenticity, certify safety or reveal every hidden defect. Specialist checks require a separate agreement.
Who might use a Taobao agent?
Overseas residents may want familiar clothing, books, decorations and household products. Students may be looking for stationery or room accessories. Small sellers may order samples before committing to wholesale quantities. Businesses may need office supplies, parts or customised items.
The use case does not prove shipping eligibility. Food, cosmetics, children's products, batteries and other regulated goods require product-specific checks. Confirm the destination rules and route acceptance before purchasing.
Step 1: Register and obtain the correct warehouse details
Get the warehouse address, recipient information and your customer identifier from the service. Use the supplied details exactly and check how to register domestic tracking numbers.

Step 2: Select products and confirm the order
Provide the product link, reference images, colour, size, model, quantity and any packaging instructions. If you need help finding a product, ask whether sourcing assistance is offered and what it costs.
The agent can clarify details with the seller where that work is included. Approve the final specification and price before payment rather than assuming the picture alone is enough.
Check the actual checkout options if you are buying independently. Payment availability depends on your account and order; it should not be described as identical for every overseas buyer.
Step 3: Review warehouse arrivals
Seller shipments can arrive separately. Match arrivals to your order list and review the agreed photos or quantity checks. Report visible discrepancies before international dispatch.
Do not treat a domestic delivery scan as proof that every ordered item has been inspected and is ready to ship. Receiving, identification and checking are distinct stages.
Step 4: Decide what to store and consolidate

Step 5: Compare international delivery options
Depending on availability and product acceptance, compare express, air, sea and destination-specific services. Urgent smaller parcels and bulky non-urgent orders have different needs.
Request the current quote and estimated transit time for your goods and address. Establish whether the estimate includes warehouse work, clearance and local delivery, and when the timing begins.
Do not compare a transport-only price with a door-to-door offer without adjusting for the excluded tasks.
Keep avoidable costs out of the order
Plan purchases together where practical, retain necessary protection and avoid choosing a route only because it is fastest. Ask about batteries, liquids, cosmetics or magnetic items before buying rather than after warehouse arrival.
Common mistakes include comparing only product prices, ignoring dimensional weight, assuming inspection is comprehensive and choosing an agent solely for a low advertised fee.

Questions to settle before payment
Can every product be shipped to every country? No. Acceptance depends on the exact product, destination and available service.
Can an agent buy from other Chinese platforms? Confirm the supported platforms and scope with the agent. Purchasing support and shipping acceptance are separate questions.
How long will delivery take? Ask for a current estimate for the chosen route, including its start point and exclusions. It is not a delivery guarantee.
Are import charges included? Ask the provider to identify duties, taxes, clearance and delivery charges in writing. Do not infer inclusion from the word forwarding.
