Parcel consolidation brings orders from different Chinese sellers to one warehouse so they can be prepared for international dispatch together. It can simplify coordination and reduce repeated charges, but whether it saves money depends on the goods, packing and route.
One shipment does not always mean one box. Fragile, incompatible or restricted goods may need separate cartons or separate services.
What happens during consolidation?
The warehouse receives seller parcels, identifies the orders, checks the agreed details, reorganises the goods and prepares suitable export packaging. Unnecessary outer cartons may be removed with your permission.
For example, shoes and a cap from Taobao, accessories from 1688 and clothing from Tmall could arrive as four domestic parcels. This is an illustrative arrangement. Whether they can leave together depends on acceptance and packing requirements.

How consolidation affects the cost
Separate international parcels can each attract minimum transport, handling and packaging charges. Consolidation may avoid some repetition, but additional warehouse work or larger-parcel surcharges can offset the benefit.
For illustration only, separate quotes of USD 35, USD 40 and USD 30 would total USD 105. These are not YDA Express rates. A consolidated alternative must be quoted using its final weight, dimensions, destination and included services before you can compare it.
Why dimensional weight matters
Some services compare actual weight with dimensional weight. Others use volume, minimum charges or different rules. Ask for the calculation used on the selected route.
Oversized seller cartons can leave unused space. A warehouse may replace them, rearrange goods and retain the protection the contents need. Removing necessary cushioning to reach a lower quote can create a more expensive damage problem.
Consolidation versus separate parcels
Consolidation offers one coordination point and may simplify shipment management. Separate parcels can be preferable when one order is urgent, another is delayed, or the goods cannot travel together.
Do not assume you will receive just one tracking number. Multi-carton and local-delivery arrangements can use additional references. Ask how domestic parcels, international cartons and final delivery are linked.
Step 1: Buy and identify your orders
Orders may come from Taobao, 1688, JD.com, Tmall, Pinduoduo or other accepted suppliers. Confirm warehouse acceptance before using the address.

Step 2: Check warehouse receiving records
The warehouse needs to match each parcel to you and record its arrival. Review the package information and any available preliminary weight and dimensions.

Step 3: Request checks and approve repacking
Specify the work you need: basic quantity or appearance checks, photos, removal of unnecessary packaging, repacking or extra protection.
Photo checks are not professional authentication or product certification. If original boxes matter for gifts, resale or returns, tell the warehouse not to discard them.
Confirm handling and packing fees before work begins. Eligible goods may qualify for storage under the free storage policy; storage eligibility does not make every warehouse service free.
Step 4: Choose a delivery method
Compare available air, sea and destination-specific services against your actual requirements. Smaller urgent orders may justify air transport. Bulky non-urgent goods may justify comparing sea freight, including its minimum and destination charges.
Ask for a current time estimate, its starting point and what it excludes. Confirm whether clearance and delivery to your exact address are part of the quote.
Step 5: Review the final shipment before payment
Approve the contents, carton count, packed dimensions, chargeable weight and route. Confirm who pays import duties, taxes, clearance costs and any local or remote-area delivery charges.
